Children with Hearing Impairment (with or without other disabilities) are the students of this school. The School of Hearing Impairment has the following targets – Speech Development, Oral Communication, Prepare for mainstream school / Inclusive school of Proyash, Vocational training leading to income generation and Job placement and rehabilitation.
The objectives of the school are developing language and verbal communication skill by using inherent remaining hearing capability; assist the students to develop understanding capability from reading a simple written text, and to compute simple calculation. The ultimate objective is to qualify the students for mainstream education.
Classes and Examinations
The school has following classes – Intervention and management class (for under 5 children), Pre Primary class and Primary class (Class I, II, III, IV and V). The school arranges three examinations in 3 terms (each term is of 4 months duration) in one academic year.

Hearing School Class activity
We follow National Curriculum Text Book Board (NCTB) in a flexible form and Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) for each and every student. We provide pre-vocational training and primary knowledge on rehabilitation. In addition, as per individual need – Occupational Therapy (OT), Physio Therapy (PT) and Hydro Therapy support services are also provided. We practice Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student, where we impart training on NCTB curriculum (Flexible), Lip reading, Listening activities, Oro-motor exercise, Vocalization, Speech Therapy, Use of teaching material etc.
Our co-curricular activities are Computer training, Indoor and outdoor games and sports, Swimming, Music, Dancing, Drawing, Art and Craft, Cooking, Sewing etc.We also provide Home visit service as and when required basis.Progress of the students is evaluated by a highly competent Evaluation Team of Proyash.
The School of Hearing Impairment has some remarkable successes which include the followings – Two students got admission in regular school; 8 students are studying at Inclusive school of Proyash (Primary and Secondary level); 2 students qualified Primary School Certificate (PSC); In addition, successful participation in Dance and Art competition and different types of awards in games and sports are won by the students at various levels (International level, National level and School level).
